Corvo is the smallest island of the Azorian Archipelago, having an area of 18 Km2 (7 km of length
and 4 km of width) and with an higher point of 770 m: Monte Grosso.
It was discovered 25 years after the Archipelago had already been seen for the first time, but it was
defenitely settled in 1548. Both the islands Corvo and Flores were marked in ancient maps like "Insula
Corvi Marini".
It is formed by only one volcano with a crater of 3400 meters perimeter which in its bottom we can find
two lagons with small little islands imitating the Azorian Archipelago.
The Vila Nova do Corvo is the only sattlement and it has about 380 inhabitants. It is from this village
that leave the small boats and airplanes connecting to the island of Flores.
The population of Corvo dedicates to farming and fishing.
